Maunka Morgan is an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska (Ho-Chunk Nisoc). He is a member of the Thunder Clan (Wakaja Hikikarac). Maunka means the “Edge of the Earth/World; Time of Day for Prayer; A New Beginning” in the Ho-Chunk language.
Maunka began serving as the Chief Executive Officer for Migizi Economic Development Company (“MEDC”) on August 20, 2012.
Before joining MEDC, Maunka worked for Ho-Chunk, Inc. (HCI), the economic development arm of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. HCI is recognized by the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development as the successful tribal corporate business model in “Indian Country,” because of their ability to successfully separate business from politics.
During his first year with HCI, Maunka worked for their government contracting and logistic operations. The last four years, he served as their Senior Account Executive for Ho-Chunk, Inc. Distribution (“HCID) tobacco, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ho-Chunk, Inc. (“HCI”), where he helped to grow the entity into one of the most profitable companies out of HCI’s 27 subsidiaries.
Maunka brings with him 20 years of combined experience in leadership, management, sales and marketing, operations, new business start-up and development, and tribal government. He has worked for both Native and non-Native business organizations throughout his professional career.
In addition, he is a Board of Trustee for Little Priest Tribal College and serves as their Vice Chairman. He is a Native American Studies faculty member at the University of Nebraska Omaha and has been a business and indigenous studies professor for Little Priest Tribal College.
Maunka has earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management and Accounting from the University of Phoenix and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Management and Native American studies from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Marjorie Noykos is Controller for Migizi EDC. Previously, in her role as a CPA at public accounting firms, she specialized in audit, accounting, payroll and tax services as well as high net worth individual tax planning and preparation, successful individual US Tax Court representation, start up business consulting, and personal financial planning support services. In addition to her public accounting career, she has been controller for a non-profit vocational rehabilitation and human services organization that encompassed nine unique industries, she has owned and operated several small businesses, and has been in the accounting field for over 19 years. She graduated Cum Laude from Northwood University with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Tax, including additional graduate level coursework.
Marjorie lives in Auburn and has two children, Ashley, 18 and Michael, 13. She is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Marjorie currently serves on the Leadership Midland Steering Committee, and has served as Treasurer for the Bay Area Women’s Shelter. She is a member of and volunteers for various other community and civic organizations as well.
Marian has worked in the gaming industry for 13 years, 11 of those with the
Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, before joining Migizi in 2011. Most of
Marian's career focus was in Training & Development; first as a software
operations trainer and then as a performance operations instructor. As a
software operations trainer, Marian traveled worldwide and assisted in the
openings of over 100 casinos, including Wynn Las Vegas, Sands Macau, and the
Lisa was born and raised in Mid Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Since graduation she has focused on Real Estate Development and Property Management.
Her experience includes managing commercial property including leasing, tenant correspondence, and property upkeep, managing renovations for new builds for hotels, restaurants, and condominium developments, and handling the sales and closing for real estate.
Theresa is the Area Retail Manager for Migizi EDC's retail operations
location in Mt. Pleasant, which includes Sagamok Shell, Cardinal Pharmacy and
the retail outlets located in the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel and Soaring
Eagle Hideway RV Park.
